Wedding Cake and Dessert Trends

The traditional three tiered, all white wedding cake is a thing of the past! Now brides are looking for more creative ways to satisfy their sweet tooth on their wedding day, as seen with recent wedding cake trends, including playing with the colors and shapes of their cake, and in some cases, replacing the cake altogether.

Following wedding color trends, wedding cakes are also going vintage and going bold. Adding simple touches like colorful monograms, 3-D designs, bright flowers, or bold touches of vintage black makes your cake not only fun to eat, but fun to look at, too. If your aim is to go farther outside the box, then make your cake one! Square cakes and other unusually shaped cakes are definitely a big trend to follow this year.

More and more couples have decided to replace a traditional wedding cake with a cupcake bar, providing their guests with a larger flavor selection. In addition, some brides and grooms have decided for a chocolate fountain instead of a conventional grooms cake, a fun alternative that all guests will enjoy.

The sweets do not stop with the wedding cake and grooms cake for many couples. The trend to have a candy or ice cream bar near the two cakes is becoming ever popular, as are chocolate fountains in colors that match the wedding. These sweet desserts are also often the focus at the end of the night as they make great party favors for guests.

Huge thanks to Three Brothers Bakery, our favorite Houston’s bakery, for providing our brides with these amazing inspirations!
